DanceLive 2012 – 16th – 31st October 2012
DanceLive is Scotland’s only festival dedicated exclusively to contemporary dance. Citymoves will be presenting companies from Scotland, the UK and Europe, performing work by choreographers from the UK, America, Canada, Israel, Spain, and Belgium.
This year will have a focus on home-grown talent: Citymoves will produce four newly commissioned works for East Coast Moves, including a new piece for by Errol White Company for Aberdeen Dance Collective, and new works from Andy Howitt, Hayley Durward and Katie Milroy. Scottish company Barrowland Ballet and British/Belgian Retina Dance Company will also give a unique opportunity to over 20 local dancers to perform with them.
DanceLive on Film will include two productions from Sadler’s Wells presented in partnership with Belmont Picturehouse; Woodend Barn’s screening of Wim Wenders’ Pina; and two short films as part of East Coast Moves.
We’re also introducing a Careers Day specifically for young people interested in pursuing a career in contemporary dance, featuring talks, workshops and lots of goodies to take home.
This year you’ll find us in Citymoves Studio, His Majesty’s Theatre, The Lemon Tree and Woodend Barn – as well as The Tunnels, and in one of the more unique collaborations, Aberdeen Railway Station and Jurys Inn hotel, where you’ll experience one of the most anticipated events in the programme, Dance Hotel.
